About The Event
We have a super exciting announcement! The Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry is unveiling its Pageant Puppetry Community Project!
Get ready to get your pageant puppetry on. Between now and April we’ll be hosting events focused on this magical puppetry style. We’re kicking things off with an informative lecture and Q&A about the significants of this art form which has made appearances at some of the most pivotal cultural moments in our history.
Join us as we dig in to learn more about the history of pageant puppetry THEN, help us build one for the guild!! That’s right… the LAGP will be building our very own pageant puppet for Earth Day 2022! We will be inviting members to submit design proposals, and the winning design will be sprung into life over a few in-person outdoor build days where we gather to put it together! Let’s get ready to get our puppet on!
To start off, we will be offering this lecture on pageant puppetry to explore the history and significance of the pageant puppetry style. This lecture will happen online over zoom on February 26th, 2022 at 1:00pm PST. This event will be free for all.
This event will be free to all members and non-members and info on designs and submissions will follow shortly, so stay tuned!
The Zoom Link will be sent out on February 25th, 2022.
